How-to

Step 1
Use the plus menu and choose Text Layer.
Step 2
Type into the text field that appears when the new row expands.
Step 3
Choose a font and adjust the text size with the stepper.
Step 4
Set Hue, Sat, and Light for the text color.
Step 5
Use X Pos, Y Pos, Scale, Opacity, and Blend to place the text into the composition.

Reference

Control	What it changes
Text field	Edits the visible text content.
Font	Chooses from the built-in font menu.
Text size	Adjusts the type size in points.
Hue	Sets the color angle for the text.
Sat	Controls how colorful the text is.
Light	Controls text brightness.
X Pos and Y Pos	Moves the text layer around the frame.
Scale	Scales the rendered text layer.
Opacity and Blend	Control how the text composites with the stack.

Practice

Use short text first; large type is easier to place and read during a performance.

Use Blend modes when text should feel embedded in the footage instead of pasted on top.

Modulate Hue, Light, or Position for simple kinetic typography.
